if you just need a nearly as good, at some points better and others a little weaker (because it's not implemented by now like network flying) simulator take the free Heli-X! I had them both but sold them before Heli-X came out (because prices on ebay already dropped here on the German market) and just use Heli-X with a custom interface that works with PCM1024. By far the best physics engine out there. If you want the best available commercial simulator take Realflight. ![]() it's great for planes but really nothing for heli training. ANYONE have experience with Aerofly and Phoenix that can give me a direct comparison? ![]() Aerofly is pretty good, but I agree it is just a little weaker in the heli department. I know the other stuff isn't needed to get good practice out of a sim but the other stuff helps change things up so it isn't so boring. The only thing it has for heli's is balloon popping which is only fun once or twice. Also Aerofly doesn't have any heli training modes, contests, or in-flight failure practice not to mention multi-player. It might be my computer / hardware configuration, but I have a 2 year old Dell with a 256Mb ATI video card. I recently installed the latest update and while the graphics are a little better there are also more bugs and I think they screwed up the sound a little. But recently I find myself not that excited about flying the Aerofly sim. ![]() Unfortunately I don't have any other sim experience to compare it to.
